"Look at the lilies and how they grow. They don't work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are." Luke 12:27
We moved to this house in October, so we had never seen it when all of the flowers and plants in the landscaping were in full bloom. The lady who lived here before me apparently had a green thumb and a knowledge of landscaping. When Spring came, it seemed like every week there was something new blooming. Just the time one flower's blooms were fading something else was springing to life. It was so exciting, especially since we didn't know what to expect. Now that I know what everything we have looks like, except for the few things I have managed to kill in my short two year tenure here, I still am equally as excited and intrigued by all the beauty that is in my tiny little yard.
Isabella and I were outside in the yard the other day and I was showing her all the flowers and telling her what they were. I explained how the tulips opened to let in the sun and the bugs to pollinate the flower. Then the next day, it was cloudy and rainy and I showed Bella that now the blooms were closed, because they knew that rain was on the way because that is how God made them. Even though they don't have brains, God has still made them so that they can do what is best for their growth and survival. I thought how sad it is that we humans, despite our weighty brains that sit atop our bodies tend to go against God's basic instructions for our growth and survival. We don't listen to God and then wonder why when the storm clouds gather, sometimes they almost overtake us.
Here are a few snapshots of the beauty I get to enjoy right outside my window.
