Treasures for Christmas

"She doesn't really need this, but I am getting it for her because I don't know what else to get her."
"What do you get the person who has everything?"
"I seriously can't even think of anything to put on my wish list."

Have you heard yourself or anyone around you saying these things? I am sure you have, because I hear it all the time.  And every year, it seems to bother me more and more.  Why do we continue this gift giving extravaganza when it becomes burdensome to the giver and receiver?

Now I am not anti-gift and I like to give and receive gifts just like the next person, but I would be thrilled to know that instead of getting me a gift you bought me something from here.  It is really simple too.  Just select which gift you would like and then click through to fill out the order form - all without having to elbow the grandmother next to you who insists that her granddaughter will be the one to end up with the mermaid Barbie!

Maybe if you do a gift exchange with your families you could consider exchange your tradition with something that will change your lives and hearts and invest in the businesses and lives of others.  Or as a family, you each could decide to take one thing off each of your Christmas lists to make room to get something more.

May the grace of Jesus Christ and the wisdom of God our heavenly Father and the peace of the Holy Spirit be with you throughout this holiday season.

Where your treasure is, there will be your heart also. - Matthew 6:21
